A Nice Person

At 6:15 this morning when I was out walking with Molly I noticed something going across the road about the distance between telephone poles ahead of us. I figured it was a cat or a fox. The car approaching this thing slowed down and let it go by. The driver speeded up and went a little bit past us and slammed on his brakes. He backed up and told me that it was a porcupine and I should probably turn around. Good idea!!! It had gone down the Idlepines Road and shortly after I heard a dog barking loudly--hopefully it didn't tangle with the porky. I didn't even know the man who stopped but I'm sure glad he did. It's beautiful here today. Lucky us---Amy is cooking us supper!!!

This is Molly. She just came up from the water. She's not a swimmer-just likes to go in and get wet. We're hoping to teach her to jump off the dock next summer--that'll be the day.

Molly and best buddy, Kobe. Kobe has been swimming but he could stay in all day if he could.

Where's the defense???

Yesterday was a really good day in Durham!! UNH 52 Dartmouth 31. BUT...UNH didn't win that game with much help from their defense. Holes, holes, holes---even I could see them and that's pretty bad. However, the game was so much fun. We scored on the very first play of the game--then again about 3 minutes in because of an interception near Dartmouth's goal line. The first half was close but the second half was all UNH. The second team (or whatever they're called) went in early on and did a pretty good job. The quarterback scored his first touchdown ever for UNH--very exciting. Next week we have a tough one away against Richmond.. Summer has officially gone---our boat is out, all winterized and stored up top of the driveway--so sad. Snowshoe time is coming!! No pictures this time--I forgot how to do them.

Here's some pictures

Here it is Sept.18th and my squash is finally blooming. Do you think I'll have squash for Thanksgiving?

Here's a wonderful spot to spend a vacation--all for free!! More pictures to follow if I remember how to do this without Amys help.

Gary came through with seven quarters--so I now have a new list. Denver--Florida, Nebraska, Washington, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Philadelphia--Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. The last two states may not be out yet. You're really a good kid, Gary!!! Sorry my blogs aren't full of exciting adventures--it's tough to only be able to go jump in the lake, go in the boat and soak up the sun. Golf is my thing but I haven't been able to play very often yet this summer. Last week, I played in a tournament and my foursome managed to come through again with our usual prize. We got the highest score and we each got a $25 prize for being the most honest group on the course. We have won this three years in a row -- we don't try to win it but we do.

Here's the picture I promised. I sort of did it on my own with a little bit of help from Amy, actually quite a bit of help. To describe this picture--Amy knocked over the bottle of wine, right side of picture, red wine, wine all over the rug. Quick action by Betty. Get paper towels, (that's all I did) soak up as much wine as possible, do not rub, spray water, soak up wine and water, and lo and behold the stain is all gone. Thank goodness!! Now for the best part of the evening--Amy made a delicious shrimp scampi (thanks to Barefoot for the recipe). Soon she'll be leaving, taking Kobe with her. Kobe has been here on one of his mini-vacations. Maggie, you should see all the wine I have in the kitchen--the whole order arrived and there's millions of bottles!!! What fun!!

Now I don't know what to do--talking on the phone is so-o-o-o much easier!! Gary, thanks, in advance, for the quarters.. This weekend three tall ships came into Portsmouth. I only saw them from a distance but they sure are beautiful. We went to see West Side Story on Sunday. It was great. Portsmouth is lucky to have the Seacoast Reporatory Theater and I'm lucky to have season tickets. Amy is coming up today to get Kobe and I will try to send another picture without her help to see if I can do it. I am getting a new computer next week--I will then be completely confused or totally happy!! Karen, my grass is not that green--I wish it was.

Hi everyone. I know that you all are not going to get excited about a picture of a tomato plant but get excited about this one!!! It's home is on the deck and it is thriving. I've never had any luck growing tomatoes at Bow Lake but this plant is loaded with them. I also have a grape tomato plant and that also has tomatoes on it but not as many as this one. I also tried zucchini and summer squash again. Of the millions of seeds I planted I have one plant growing--the type of squash will be a surprise--that is, if it survives.

For those of you who want the list of quarters I'm missing here goes---Denver Mint, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, West Virginia, and Idaho. For the Pennsylvania Mint, Idaho. I didn't think I was missing so many. Denver Mint is very hard to come by for some reason. I have to sign off now because Amy helped me set up this page and she has to leave so I have to finish up.

First time

Jeffrey---this is my first post and I have nothing to say!! It's cold and windy--I blame Maggie for this--I think she took the good weather back to CO. Amy is coming up soon--we are going to try a new recipe tonight--I hope it's good. We bought a new lawnmower but it's still in the box--that makes it pretty hard to mow the lawn!! I'm still collecting the state quarters--I forgot to give you my list, Maggie--and I'd be happy to post a list of the ones that I haven't collected yet. Please let me know if you're interested. Getting quarters from the Denver Mint are not easy to come by--I will reinburse any quarters that I receive. Jenny, Zack, and Cody--you said you were coming to visit--when?
